Our journey continues! Today, we are going to visit another of our farms in Esmeraldas: The Hacienda “Almandros”. In particular, we are going to talk to the administrator of the farm– Fernando Cevallos.
The Hacienda “Almandros” was one of the first to join our “Familia Organica” in 2011. Throughout the years, the Hacienda with the help of Natural Habitats adapted their organic production techniques to more sustainable ones, achieving several certifications in the process! In this video, Mr. Cevallos talks about his experience with organic farming.
In a nutshell, organic farming involves changing and adapting the conventional farming methods to exclude the use of fertilizers and pesticides in favor for organic compost or green manure. In order to eliminate the use of pesticides, alternative natural methods that are organic and sustainable have to be used. Mr. Cevallos talks about the differences between conventional and organic farming, which involves switching from chemical fertilizer to organic products! It is easy to switch to organic production! Natural Habitats offers guidance and advice through their agronomists. They help farmers (in this case the Hacienda “Almandros”) by providing appropriate training and solutions to the problems encountered!
Natural Habitats is focused on creating a common front with our farmers through our “Familia Organica” in order to share the same values by: empowerment the farmers to improve their livelihood, protecting the world’s resources and people’s health, preserving heritage and cultural tradition and sharing our passion for an organic and social world! “Familia Organica” is more than a family is an organic and sustainable way of life!
We would like to thank the Hacienda “Almandros” for the fantastic job they do and the due diligence they take in order to produce quality palm fruits! To find out more please watch this video
Our journey will continue! Stay tuned for more exciting stories!
